About Us

“Turkish-American Immigration & Social Services (TAIS)” is a ‘not-for-profit’ organization that provides social immigration services primarily aimed at assisting Turkish-American immigrants.

Our primary mission is to assist low-income Turkish-speaking immigrants, asylees, and their families with their US visa, education, and social integration processes within the country. If we have sufficient capacity, we also plan to extend these services to other communities from similar cultural backgrounds in the coming years, such as individuals from the Balkan, Middle East, and Central Asia regions.

Helping with the visa process

Many lower-income Turkish-speaking immigrants in US need more proficiency in English or any other second language. Language presents a significant barrier for them to access affordable and reliable visa services.

  • We organize meetings with immigration lawyers to inform our community.
  • We provide paralegal and legal assistance to existing Turkish immigration legal offices.

Through our paralegal services, we aim to help them prepare immigration application forms, fill out forms, provide legal translations, conduct legal research, and offer general support. Currently, Turkish immigration attorneys in the USA are overwhelmed with their workload, and by outsourcing some paralegal staff, they will have more time to serve individuals.

Helping with education

  • We organize free ESL lessons for practical everyday use.
  • We also plan to offer free English courses for Turkish immigrant students in grades K-12 and college and university. If we have the capacity, we also intend to provide other subject lessons.
  • We organize meetings with parents to discuss the US education system.
  • We assist and counsel students regarding their high school and college education.
  • We organize psycho-educational seminars for immigrant women and families in the US to explain American cultural norms in daily life. Since many everyday norms and behaviors in the US differ from Turkish culture, helping women and families understand these differences promotes empathy and aids in their social integration process in the USA.

Helping with social integration and government-related responsibilities

  • We organize psycho-education sessions for parent groups to comprehend and adapt to US social life.
  • We arrange seminars and meetings for Turkish immigrants to educate them about their legal rights and responsibilities in the US. One of the individuals’ responsibilities is filing their tax returns yearly.
  • We conduct seminars for coaching, counseling, and guidance tailored to specific segments of the Turkish-speaking community in the US, addressing their particular needs.
  • We organize seminars about fundamental rights and provide information about US governmental offices. For instance, we inform them how to apply for a driver’s license.
  • We assist individuals in accessing paralegal services and connect them with non-profit legal organizations and city offices for various legal issues. For example, we guide them on obtaining an SSN or ITIN number.
  • We assist immigrants in filling out government forms.
  • We aid the community in translating legal and government public services.
  • We support individuals in finding employment in the US, considering their current legal status.

Regarding all the above-mentioned services, we plan to approach local governmental public offices to reach more Turkish-speaking immigrants in our target community and provide services to them.
